Passionate People
Nathaniel and Elizabeth Bieniek have a reputation in their inner circles of being “potential unlockers.” Whether over dinner and a glass of wine, or simply enjoying the day’s weather at the local café, it’s not uncommon that a casual conversation with friends and colleagues will turn into impromptu strategy and brainstorming session, complete with back of the napkin charting and resulting in a decisive plan of action.
Their passion is people – more specifically identifying people’s passion and unlocking their potential. Their philosophy stems from a firm belief that each individual has a purpose in life – some fundamental drive, passion, or ambition that they were set on this earth to accomplish – and individuals perform at their optimum capacity when they are aligned with a company and role that mirrors their personal passion.
Their view on corporations is that a corporation is simply a compilation of individual people. Their passion is making connections between like-minded individuals and like-minded corporations. That’s how dreams are unlocked, goals are achieved, potential is maximized, history is made, and the world is changed.
What’s in a Name?
Baethos is a phonetic-alteration of the Greek word boethos (bah-ay-thoss). The roots are ‘boe’, meaning “a cry for help” and ‘thos’, stemming from ‘theo,’ meaning “to run”. Thus Baethos means to run to the aid of, in response to a cry for help and reflects our core desire to “run and help” businesses reach their full potential.
Baethos is Born
Like the famous Plato quote: “Necessity is the mother of invention”, Baethos was born out of a need.
Elizabeth was frustrated with the corporate hiring process at many companies where personal recommendations were largely overlooked, chemistry fit was an afterthought, and the heaviest weight in selecting candidates was given to scanning for check boxes and buzz words. There had to be a better way.
When Nathaniel went to make a career change to a tangential field, he was frustrated with the amount of pushback he got from recruiters that were only interested in talking to candidates who had done the exact same tasks for the exact same industries in their last role. There had to be a better way.
By encountering the same problem from two different angles, Nathaniel and Elizabeth arrived at a similar conclusion. From this experience, Baethos was founded on the belief that there’s a better way to hire, a better way to grow, and a better way to lead.
At Baethos, we believe that businesses flourish or fail dependent on three major activities:
- Getting the right people on board (Executive Placement)
- Developing those people throughout their careers (Leadership Development), and
- Helping those people efficiently and effectively move your organization forward (Operations Consulting)
